Famous Thinkers Speak Out

Quotations are organized by subject.

Reincarnation > Quotations from the Bible
There are some 200 verses in the Bible that indicate reincarnation. Twenty-four books containing reincarnation teachings are not included in our present day Bible.

Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out.
- Revelations 3:12

Whom do men say that I, the son of man, am? And they [disciples] said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
- Mark 8: 27

Jesus saw a man who was blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

Jesus answered, neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
(A reincarnation question. In this case the purpose of this man's blindness was to show the power and forgiveness of God through Jesus, who was a great medium and healer).
- John 9: 1-3

Jesus answering the Jews:
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day and he saw it and was glad.

Then said the Jews unto Him:
Thou art not yet 50 years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

Jesus said unto them:
Verily, Verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am.
- John 8: 56-58

At that time, Herod the Tetrarch heard the report about Jesus and said to his servants: This is John the Baptist; He is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him. For Herod had laid hold of John and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodius, his brother Philip's wife.
- Matthew 14: 1-3

Prophecy & Reincarnation
Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them saying: "Tell the vision to no one until the Son of man is risen from the dead."

And his disciples asked him, saying: "Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?"

Jesus answered and said to them, "Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise the Son of man is also about to suffer at their hands."

Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
- Matthew 17: 9-12

Jesus speaking to John the Baptist:
And if you will receive it, this is Elijah which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear!
- Matthew 11: 13-15

In response to "How does one get to be like you?", Jesus said:
"Ye must be born again."
- John 2: 7

- John 15: 5

- John 10: 34

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than He who is in the world.
- First Epistle of John 4:4

Reincarnation > Quotations from other religions
The souls must re-enter the absolute, whenever they have emerged. But to accomplish this end they must develop all the perfections, the germ of which is planned in them; and if they have not fulfilled this condition during one life, they must commence another, a third and so forth; until they have acquired the condition which fits them for reunion with God.
